Preparing for a journey: what the first conversation covers

Every journey at SoulForest begins the same way: a free, 30-minute conversation — virtual or in person, whichever feels easier. There are no health forms to fill out first, no account to create, and nothing to decide on the spot.

That last part is by design. Here’s what those thirty minutes actually cover, from both sides of the table.

What the conversation is for

One thing: finding out whether our approach and your situation are a good fit. It isn’t a screening — medical clearance is a separate, later step that only happens if we both want to continue. And it isn’t a sales call. Nobody here works on commission, and “no” is an answer we genuinely accept — in both directions.

What we’ll ask you

Nothing you need to prepare for. In plain terms:

• What’s bringing you here. In your own words. Some people arrive with a clear story; some with “I don’t know, but something has to change.” Both are fine.
• What you’ve already tried. Therapy, medication, other support. Not to judge any of it — this path tends to make the most sense alongside or after those, not instead of them.
• What you’re hoping for. We’ll listen carefully — and be honest with you about what nobody can promise. Researchers are studying psilocybin for depression, anxiety, and other conditions, but experiences vary, and honest care never guarantees outcomes.
• The practical picture. Timing, logistics, and whether questions about cost matter to you now or later.

What you can ask us

Anything — that’s the point of the half hour. The questions we hear most often:

• How the law works, what “state-licensed” means, and what our license actually covers
• What the four steps involve, from clearance to integration — the long version lives on our services page
• What sessions cost and how payment plans work
• Who would actually be with you — our facilitators, their training, and their role
• What psilocybin is in the first place — we’re glad to give the educational version, and our overview page is a good place to start

If you leave with a question unasked, you can always ask it later. The conversation doesn’t expire.

Why nothing is decided in 30 minutes

Three reasons, and they’re all deliberate:

1. Clearance hasn’t happened yet. Nobody can responsibly say yes to a session before medical screening — so we don’t.
2. Slow decisions are safer decisions. We’d rather you decide at your kitchen table, days later, than in the warmth of a good conversation. A yes that can’t survive a week of reflection wasn’t a yes.
3. An honest no is part of good care. Sometimes we’ll be the ones to say this doesn’t seem like the right fit, or the right time. That isn’t a rejection — it’s the job.

There’s no follow-up pressure after the call. If you want to continue, you tell us. If you don’t, that’s a complete answer.

If we both want to continue

The next step is medical clearance with a licensed medical professional, then preparation sessions with the facilitator who will hold your journey — the same person from that point all the way through integration. Each step is explained before it happens, and each one waits for your yes.
